Confluence
A small, closed reading cohort gathering monthly around books that take shame, accountability, attachment, and love seriously. In person in Tiohtià:ke, with an online cohort for people who can’t be there.
Confluence is a small, closed reading cohort built around the things that show up in the silences that follow something hard, through books that center Black, queer, and Indigenous life, in a space that’s social as much as it is literary. In person in Tiohtià:ke, with an online cohort for people who can’t be there.
The Reading List
- All About Love — bell hooks
- Love in a F*cked Up World — Dean Spade
- We Will Not Cancel Us — adrienne maree brown
- This Here Flesh — Cole Arthur Riley
- Theory of Water — Leanne Betasamosake Simpson
How It Works
Starting with interest, not a schedule.
The first cohort forms in person in Tiohtià:ke once enough people respond. An online cohort follows if there’s demand from people who can’t be there. More than one in-person cohort, if the numbers call for it.
Closed cohorts, capped at 10.
Once a cohort is full, it stays that group for the duration. Depth over reach.
One monthly meeting, three hours.
In person in Tiohtià:ke, reading and conversation woven through food and social time. Online, the same shape over video, for people based outside Tiohtià:ke or for whom in-person participation isn’t accessible.
Optional drop-in time during the month.
Coffee shops, parks, a Whereby room. Come talk about the book, or just come hang out.
Free or pay-what-you-can.
Cost is never the reason someone isn’t in the room.
What This Is
This space holds themes that surface in hard moments. We read together, talk about what the books bring up, and support each other as peers. The structure is social and literary. If you’re looking for clinical support, I’m happy to help you find it elsewhere.
Interested?
Fill out the short form to let me know you’re interested, and whether you’d want to join in person or online.
In solidarity,
